The Subtle Fine art of Not Giving a Fuck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Skilful Life (first published in 2016) is the second book by blogger and author Mark Manson.[one] In it, Manson argues that life's struggles give it meaning, and that the mindless positivity of typical self-help books is neither practical nor helpful. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck was published under the banner of HarperOne, a division of HarperCollins Publishers, and was released on September thirteen, 2016.[two]
As of May 2019, over 8 million copies of the book had been sold.[3]

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck get-go appeared on the New York Times Bestseller List at #half-dozen for the category of How-to and Miscellaneous for the week of October 2, 2016.[viii] It reached #1 for the first time on July 16, 2017.[9] Equally of the end of May 2020, the volume has spent 179 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list.[10]
The book also appeared on the Washington Mail Bestseller List at #ix in the Not-fiction/General category for the week of September 25, 2016,[11] and on the Toronto Star List at #1 in the Cocky-Improvement category on September 23, 2016.[12] In 2017, it was the all-time-selling nonfiction volume from Barnes & Noble,[13] the #4 best-selling book on all of Amazon.com,[14] and the #ix best-selling book in Canada.[fifteen]
Kirkus Reviews said that the volume was "[a] good yardstick by which cocky-improvement books should be measured."[16]
The book was noted as a prominent case of an industry wide tendency of swear words in volume titles during the 2010s.[17] [18]
Critics take been quick to note that the apparent lack of sophistication in language and mode of the book is a clever disguise for more serious value-related content of the book.[19]
